We use cookies to make our website intuitive and easy-to-use. The data collected through cookies are used to make your experience on the website more pleasant and more efficient in the future.

What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files sent by the site to the data subject’s device (usually to the browser) where they are saved to be retransmitted to the website the next time it is visited by the same user. A cookie cannot call up any other data from the user’s hard drive, transmit computer viruses, or acquire email addresses. Each cookie is unique for the user’s web browser. Some cookie functions may be delegated to other technology. In this document, the term “cookie” refers to both the cookie and to all similar technology.

Types of cookies
Cookies can be first- or third-party, where “first-party” refers to cookies whose domain is the website and “third-party” refers to cookies related to external domains.

Third-party cookies must be installed by an external subject, always defined as a “third party”, not managed by the website. These subjects may possibly also install first-party cookies by storing their own cookies on the website's domain.

Another type of cookie is the “Flash Cookie” (Local Shared Objects) used in Adobe Flash Player to deliver certain content, such as video clips or animations, in order to remember settings and preferences. Flash cookies are stored on the device but managed through a different interface than the one provided by the browser.

Nature of cookies
Regarding the nature of cookies, there are several types:

Technical cookies
Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of “carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such service” (see Art. 122, paragraph 1 of the Code).

They are not used for any other purpose and are normally installed directly by the website owner or manager. They can be broken down into:
  • navigation or session cookies that ensure normal navigation and use of the website (e.g., allowing a purchase or authentication to access reserved areas); they are necessary for proper operation of the website;
  • analytics cookies, integrated with technical cookies when used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site, in order to improve the site's performance;
  • functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a set of selected criteria (e.g., language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided to the user. Installation of these cookies does not require prior consent from the user (more information is found in the paragraph Management of Cookies below).
Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are aimed at creating user profiles and are used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences demonstrated by the users during navigation online.

Use of profiling cookies requires the data subject’s consent. According to the provision, the user may authorize or deny consent to install the cookies.

For third-party cookies, the website does not have direct control over the individual cookies and cannot control them (can neither install them directly or delete them). You can manage these cookies through your browser settings.
